🎬 Job Description: Full-Time Assistant Manager – Golden Star Theaters

✨ Job Summary: Preserving the Magic, Mastering the Operation

Do you genuinely love movies, and understand the magic of the communal cinema experience? Golden Star Theaters is seeking a seasoned and dedicated Full-Time Assistant Manager who is ready to lead a complex operation, but whose true mission is to preserve the excitement and joy people feel when they step into a movie theater. This is a crucial, high-responsibility role as the Head Manager’s second-in-command. This is a job for a hands-on leader who can seamlessly blend strict operational excellence with genuine customer care and a true passion for entertainment. If you have the management chops to run a multi-faceted retail/hospitality business, and you do it with a smile, we want to talk.

💼 Key Responsibilities (A High-Level, Operational Role):

Reporting to the Head Manager, you will be directly responsible for the following core operational and personnel functions:
  • Personnel Leadership & Management (The Whole Team): Directly manage, coach, schedule, and lead all personnel (Assistant Managers, Floor Staff, and Morning Cleaners). This includes full life-cycle management: hiring, comprehensive training, performance and disciplinary reviews, and conducting raise reviews.
  • Elevating the Guest Experience (Our Core Mission): Champion our culture of understanding, friendliness, and proactive service to ensure every guest feels welcomed. Go beyond conflict resolution to identify and resolve issues before they impact the customer. You are the direct guardian of the perfect, distraction-free movie night.
  • Facility & Safety Management: Ensure the building is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and good repair.
  • Food & Beverage Operations: Oversee the preparation and service of fresh, appetizing, and properly prepared concession items, adhering to all food safety standards.
  • Inventory & Financial Oversight: Maintain strict control over theater inventories. Responsibilities include weekly ordering of concessions/supplies, meticulous organization, and detailed counting/reconciliation.
  • Technical & Scheduling Duties: Execute weekly movie scheduling and operate/maintain state-of-the-art digital movie projection equipment (training provided, but technical aptitude is key). Promotions & Local Marketing: Develop, organize, and execute local, movie-themed promotions to drive attendance and enhance the guest experience.

🔑 Qualifications: The Specific Management Experience We Need

This is not an entry-level management position. We require candidates who can immediately step into a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience Scope: Minimum of 3 years of progressive, salaried management experience in a high-volume, multi-faceted retail, hospitality, or food service environment.
We are specifically seeking experience managing an operation that involves simultaneous oversight of:
  1. Direct Customer/Guest Service.
  2. High-Volume Cash Handling/POS Systems.
  3. Inventory Control/Ordering (e.g., food, retail products).
  4. Managing 10+ employees across varying shifts.
  • The Cinephile Requirement: A deep and genuine love for movies and the entertainment industry is essential. You must understand why people come to the movies—this passion must fuel your leadership.
  • Financial & Operational Acumen: Demonstrated strong understanding of business operations, including cash control, P&L implications of staffing/inventory, and the ability to consistently meet demanding deadlines.
  • Heart of Hospitality: A genuine, energetic, and positive attitude is non-negotiable. While you must be comfortable providing firm, fair leadership and upholding theater policies (for the comfort of all guests), your primary motivation must be fostering a supportive work environment and delivering best-in-class customer service.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, lift, twist, and bend on a frequent basis.
  • Technical Literacy: Proficient with computers and standard office software (Excel, Word). Familiarity with Macintosh operating systems is a plus.
  • Logistics & Availability: Reliable transportation (personal vehicle preferred).
  • Must have full, open availability to work nights, weekends, and all major holidays. (This is non-negotiable in the entertainment industry, so please apply only if this works for you.)
